When I was little, probably Michael and Sophie's age, my dad would come home from work and ask, "What did you do today? Rip and chip and cut and paste?" I hadn't thought of that in a long time. Then Sophie started spending afternoons drawing on scraps of paper, cutting them into pieces with scissors, taping them to walls, tables, and magazines. Then I remembered.
